NPA recovery at barber shop

On one fine day, our Vasool Mannar Kitta Mama went for NPA recovery drive in and around defaulters place in Turaiyur. One such defaulter has his own barber shop, but has not repaid his loan for some time. So when Kitta mama went for his vasool to the shop, there was a movie running in the TV in the barber shop. (I tried my best to search for the exact clip in Youtube for you to get the best feel of what happened.. but couldn't. If anyone finds it, let me know and I will embed it here). In the movie, Gaundamani is a bank manager going on a NPA recovery and he goes to, you guessed it right, a barber shop in the movie. In his own style, he abuses the barber, picks up his tools and walks away. Cut to the present, and Kitta mama and Barber watching this scene in TV. The poor soul silently picked up some cash, gave it to mama and promised that in the future he will be prompt with his payments. :-)

Aavani avittams at Thuraiyur

I believe, I was there on all the aavani avittams in Thuraiyur during my schooling. The day starts with all bachelors searching for a saloon in the morning, some of them opened early morning waiting for Iyer pasangal. Most of the times, we will go to the one near Prasanna theatre. One of the traditions that we built over the years is to never pay him at the end of it and it would be Seshadri perippa's next visit which would reveal that 5 of us had a free haircut. One other thing to be very very careful is to explain to him very clearly, how much to cut. Once I remember in my seventh standard, he let his imagination go wild and made me look like a joker.

We'll finish off Sandhi and Samithadhanam very quick coz we know there is hot appam and idly waiting for us. After completing the brunch, we would be headed to the temple, with lots of apparatus, pachapatharam, akshadhai, water, veda books etc. The left side of the Mahasampathgowri sannadhi would be reserved for us.

The function would start with our Sastrigal mama chanting of Yagnopaveetha dhaaranam manthrams. After that is the Vedaarambam, which is the fun part. There are some verses which talk about the holy rivers, towns in India. Here it goes
Kanchipuri-Kasipuri-Madhurapuri etc.
We had come up with a different version doing some extrapolations to honour Kitta mama, who was the manager of Madhurapuri branch.
Kanchipuri-Kasipuri-Madhurapuri-Vaiyapuri-Sikkathambur-Thuraiyur.


It would be Athu or Mani would would be starting this and the entire bay would erupt with laughter. Even Sastrigal mama would enjoy this moment of kalasifying Kitta mama by looking through the corner of his eyes. There is another part, which would also have some tongue twisters and it would be fun to recite :) a - yi- onnu, gyanamana, kapadhashu, gyalanakapadhashu etc. So, after completing things at Temple, we would have Aarati before entering the house and have a great feast.

It was a fantastic time for all of us, these days not able to go to Thuraiyur, and in Madras, not sure if we got Madhurapuris. Miss the fun.

Vairichettipalayam part 2

Adding more on V.Palayam visit. V.Palayam visit is one kind of picnic for us. Kitta mama, using his project managerial abilities probably thought that the problems in the bank would be solved by young people. However, the only reason I could think I went was to try different things in the office. Was wondering how it would have been when we went on a working day and occupied cash counters.

In addition to office visits, he was one of the persons, who thought about Outsourcing (without pay, of course). He used to bring big ledgers from office and asked us to do some work on that.

Kitta mama was the most popular Vasool mannar (NPA recovery) in the vicinity of 18 pattis and sometimes it extended beyond NPA. Once we went to an Elanir kadai, who borrowed some amount from the bank, and when we went, we got free elanirs from him. :D (We were 10 and everyone had about 2-3, with parcel as well)

To conclude, because of our help, Kitta mama was recognized as one of the best managers in Thuraiyur taluk and got some awards!

துறையூர் நினைவுகள் - வைரிச்செட்டிப்பாளையம்

துறையூரில் பள்ளிப் பருவத்தில் நாங்கள் சேர்ந்து செய்த குறும்புகள், விளையாட்டுகள், என்ற இனிய நினைவிகளிலிருந்து ஒரு பகுதி. மற்ற பகுதிகள் இறைவன் கருணையுடன் விரைவில்..

துறையூர் - திருச்சியிலிருந்து 1 மணி நேர பஸ் பயண தூரத்தில் உள்ள ஊர். அதுவே எனது அம்மாவின் ஊர். எனவே பள்ளி விடுமுறை நாட்களில் அங்கு போய் விடுவது வழக்கம். சில வருடங்கள் எனது மாமா (திரு கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி) துறையூர் அருகே உள்ள வைரிச்செட்டிப்பாளையம் என்ற ஊரில் ஒரு வங்கியின் Managerஆக இருந்தார். நாங்கள் துறையூரில் இருக்கும் போது எங்களையும் வங்கிக்கு அழைத்துச் செல்வார். அங்கு அவருக்கு உதவியாக சில நேரங்களும் உபத்ரவையாக பல நேரங்களும் இருப்போம்.

அங்கு போகும் Team பற்றி சொல்லவில்லையே.. என்னைத் தவிர மேற்சொன்ன நண்பன் மணி மற்றும் எனது சித்தி மகன் ரமணா, சித்தி மகள் காயத்ரி, எனது இன்னொரு மாமா மகன் நாகராஜன், இன்னொரு மாமா மகன் ஆத்மா (இவன் கதை இன்னொரு நாள்).. யார் பெயராவது விடுபட்டிருந்தால் தெரிவிக்கவும்.

அங்கு நாங்கள் செய்யாத வேலைகளே இல்லை. ஒரு முறை ஒரு Ledgerக்கும் இன்னொரு Ledgerக்கும் Tally பண்ணும்போது ஒரு 10 பைசா இடித்தது. அதைக் கண்டுபிடிக்க 3-4 நாட்கள் ஆனது. எப்படி கண்டுபிடித்தோம் என்று கேட்காதீர்கள்.. நினைவில் உள்ள வரை இரண்டு Ledgerகளையும் பக்கத்தில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு ஒவ்வொரு வரியாக சரி பார்த்தோம்.

உதாரணத்திற்கு ஒன்று பார்த்தோம். வேண்டுமென்றால் பின்னர் மற்றவைகளைத் தருகிறேன். இப்போது உபத்திரவங்களுக்கு வருவோம்.

எங்களுக்குப் பிடித்த விளையாட்டு ஃபோன் விளையாட்டு. ஃபோன் எடுத்து ஏதாவது நம்பருக்கு அடிப்போம். யாராவது எடுத்தால் சில நிமிடங்களுக்குப் பேசவே மாட்டோம். எதிர் திசையில் hello hello என்று கத்திக் கொண்டிருப்பர். இல்லையென்றால் நாங்களும் hello hello என்று பல குரலில் பேசுவோம். யார் என்று கேட்டாலும் பதில் hello தான். Randomஆக ஃபோன் அடித்து போர் அடித்து துறையூரில் உள்ள எங்கள் தூரத்து உறவினர் வக்கீல் மாமாவிற்கு ஃபோன் செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தோம். அவரிடமும் அதே விளையாட்டு. இதில் கொடுமை என்னவென்றால் வக்கீல் மாமா வீட்டு மாடியில் தான் சாஸ்த்ரிகள் மாமா தங்கியிருந்தார். அங்கே வேதம் படிக்கப் போகும்போது வக்கீல் மாமா எங்களிடமே இப்படி வரும் ஃபோன் கால் பற்றிப் புலம்புவார்.

அங்கு ஒரு adding machine உண்டு. அதில் விளையாடுவது என்பது எங்களுக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த ஒன்று. சில சமயம் உதவியாக ledger page total, adding machine மூலம் செய்வோம். பல முறை விளையாட்டிற்கு அதை உபயோகித்தோம். ஒரு முறை நாகராஜன் தனது ஆராய்ச்சிக்கு அதை உபயோகித்தான். சாதாரணமாக பேப்பர் செல்லும் இடத்தில் இரண்டாக மடித்து நுழைத்தான். அதுவும் அழகாக வெளியே வந்தது. பின் நான்காக மடித்து உள்ளே நுழைத்தான். அது எங்கோ போய் சிக்கிக் கொண்டது. அவ்வளவுதான்... கொஞ்ச நாட்களுக்கு அந்த adding machine உபயோகமில்லாமல் மூலையில் கிடந்தது. பின்னர் ஒரு விடாக்கொண்டர், சிக்கிய பேப்பரை வெளியே எடுக்க, எங்களது வேலை தொடர்ந்தது. என்ன.. நாகராஜனுக்கு மட்டும் adding machine பக்கம் வர தடா.
